Ever think about gluing one of these to the bottom of your tin? I figure it would be an excellent application for a sharpener of this type. It's thinner than their "credit card" models so it's not nearly so heavy.

nice.... i was thinking a mirror glued to the bottom or top as well.

This made me think of glueing two tins together like this mini fishing tackle holders that open one both sides you just flip it over and store more gear and they stay together all the time. Awsome idea with the stone and gave me a great idea too. Great post man

It's new so the price is high. If you are going to glue it to something you could just get some of the 3M diamond lapping sheets. I have the DMT credit card sharpener and recommend it. I like the credit card sharpener because it is rigid. I did epoxy a piece of 3M to the back of it and it works great.

I've done and seen leather with stropping/honing compound on it but that would make a pretty cool setup for more serious sharpening and non convexed edges. Pretty cool.

3M was making 1" x 8" "flexible diamond strips" some years ago. Not sure of the grits offered, but 800 grit was one offering. They were NOT cheap.

If you can find them they have diamond sheets up to 125 micron. 3M does advertise CBN (cubic boron nitride) belts although I haven't been able to find any for sale. They recommend the CBN for tempered steel.

Those ideas are great. But, my favorite use for the tin is for making char cloth. Also, my tins get dented up easily just from being carried around. So a thin flexible strip may not stay flat.
So, no for me.

thats a great find and a great idea!! u have the thicker havy version i carrie in my wallet but this would be nice on my tins!
