I love the Buck\strider and I think Im finally decided to get one. Im a bit worried about buying yet another linerlock however, as Ive had less than perfect experiences with them thus far.

The question is, how are yalls linerlocks holding out? Do you see any sign of weakening, or is it moving steadily over to the opposite side. As some may know Im looking at the BM 552 Doug Ritter Griptilian as an alternative to the buck. Its probably not quite as tough, but with S30V and the Axis lock it cant be far behind. If it wasnt for the linerlock there would be no contest as to which one Ill buy. but if anyone can rest my mind Ill probably get the Buck. (Im sure Ill own both eventually  ) But right now I want a heavy duty workhorse.

Thanks for all the help and patience with all these Buck\strider threads!!!! :)

Agreed. That is one thick linerlock. It's like a framelock with an outer slab attached. :D

It's a great blade. Land one before everyone finds out how great it is.

Value for money. I won't say it is the mother of all knives but for the price, you really can't complain.

If its a heavy duty workhorse you seek, go with the Buck. You will not be disappointed. And if you do get the Buck, let me pass on a tip I picked up on these forums. Stop by the hardware store and but a #60 O Ring from plumbing supply. It will fit perfectly in the grove in the thumbstud, and makes opening a breeze.

Heck with remarks like that I just gotta get one! Ill put it on order, and hoprfully the Doug Ritter grippy will be around for a while

Thanks guys!

i worried about liner locks too but bought one anyway. don't worry about lock failure with this knife as it is rock solid and the blade itself puts other folders to shame

Exactly, one tough kfife but a good every day user as well.

Mike, the thumbstud on the Buck/Strider is a fat little cylinder, with a groove running around it just below the top. An O-ring in the groove gives your thumb something tacky and soft to shove against. Without the O-ring, some people might find the groove digs into the tip of the thumb.

The newer versions also have had the titanium liner heat treated on the end where lockup occurs ensuring that lockup will be more secure and wear at a minimum. The #60 O-ring is something I had never heard but sounds like an ideal "fix"! Thanks for the tip Rob.

Alright guys, I ordered it. Hope the linerlock dosnt suck! It dosnt look any thicker than that of my EKI cqc-7 But its kind of canted in the pic.

Hey can anyone point me towards where to find decent pics of one?? The liner especially!

I think the first run of the B/S had 0.080" liners... pretty good thickness. I don't know if they thinned them down for the 2nd gen ones -- I'd heard rumors they were supposed to go to 0.063", which would have been a shame.

My B/S started way on the left and moved to the center of the tang in about 2 weeks of light use. I sent it back to Buck and Joe Houser set things right.
