Those vexing faxed advertisements

Are you getting advertisements in your fax machine? The ones that coyly state "if you received this in error, call this number to be removed from our fax list?" This sucks and there should be something that can be done to stop it. Bad enough they come through almost one per day. But they use large fonts and graphics that eat up my expensive toner supply!

Well if you take a couple of sheets of paper and tape them together really neatly then start that through the fax machine and then tape the other ends together you then have a long loop of paper through the fax machine which will then just keep faxing as long as you tell it to, kind of a never ending fax. Might really suck to on the other end of that fax.

It's always different numbers to call to stop the service, and it's always one of two different electronic voices that take you throught the steps. All the ads vary. It must be maybe two services doing it, or people are getting similar machines or software that enable this. I am keeping track to catch one that has the same call in number, but it might be futile. I'll check the link above. Thanks for that.

I once drew a large schlong and sent it through. The receiving fax looked like it had an erection.

Don't call the unsubscribe number; call the sales number and get the company name and address. Then inform them that the penalty for junk faxing can be as high as $11,000 per infraction. Worked for me.

And just think what might happen if you used BLACK paper....??? ;)

I wouldn't bomb a fax spammer because they most likely won't reveal their number or any other useful information without you trying to do business with them.

Unfortunately, the law has indeed changed. It's technically legal for a company that has a prior business relationship to send you unsolicited faxes. If I ever received one, you can bet I'd fax their crap right back at them.

It's much the same way I respond to junk mail with a "postage paid" envelope. I shove their crap back in the envelope and drop it in the mailbox, wasting their money and time. I often write "remove from mailing list, do not share my information".

I also keep an opt-out letter handy for banks and other organizations I do business with. Basically it's "don't share my information to any third parties, don't telemarket me, give me a written response to confirm you've received this". It really cuts down on this sort of junk.

Heard a friend once claim he'd used clear packing tape to afix a 'return postage paid' postcard solicitation to a cinderblock. He said he wrote, "Thanks, but I think I'll pass" on it prior to taping and dropping it off at the PO. Might have been full of it, but sounds like a great idea for a repeat snail mail spammer.
