so my sister got me an izula recently(great sister) but she is also a chemist and heard me talking about forced patinas so before she gave me it she stripped it and gave it a beautiful patina. Really sweet but I will be moving to the coast in a few weeks so patina won't do, would anyone who is thinking about doing this be interested in a straight across trade? It's completely unused and as sharp as it comes from esee, I'll even wrap the handle in any color paracord you like.

money is just to tight rigt now to buy another one.

thank you

I have one I'd trade but it's coating, sheath, and paracord wrap are all a red white and blue American flag theme. Looks really cool but I like the sound of a stripped Izula with a patina. Mine has never been used or even carried, just fondled and admired.

i think you should keep the present from your sister,, with little care it will do just fine
coatings wear off...

tinman,

I'll second keeping it, you'll regret trading it for the same thing.. Unless you intend to leave it stuck in the sand at the beach you have nothing to worry about.. If its a daily user you'll notice right off the bat if a spot of surface rust develops.. and using it will get rid of that problem.. just keep it wiped down with a little mineral oil and you should have zero problems..

take care,

Yeah, the patina will already discourage rust, and then there are oils and other things like TufGlide that stay on the blade.

I don't like to tell others what to do, but if my sister stripped and forced a patina on a knife for me I wouldn't want to trade it.

At the end of the day a little surface rust isn't really going to hurt it that bad anyway.
