Thought and Opinions on This Knife Concept.

Hi All,

This is my first post on this forum and i am looking forward to some feedback from the wealth of knowledge of fellow users.

So a few months ago i was playing around with a semi auto handgun with a soft hogue grip and i thought to myself that a hogue grip would feel nice on a custom knife.

My next thought was, well if you are gonna use a hogue grip, you may aswell make a hollow handle knife with a mag well and use it to holster a spare magazine in the field and eliminate the need for a pouch on the belt.

I am stuck with ideas to how to go about it. My original thought was to laser cut the blade and use dowels and screws the fix CNC machined grips to either side of the blade and allow the mag to fit in the middle. Some how this would incorporate a standard mag release from a handgun.

I have also thought about going away from a hogue style grip to wooden scales to make a simplier design and even CNC machined from a single piece of stock.

I was wondering if any of you fellow followers would have any ideas on such a concept?

Never thought about using the gun grips themselves but I always thought it would be cool to have that same feel applied to knife handles. Hogue does make knives too now. Maybe they will offer scales someday. Not sure if the co-polymer process could be done small scale and be cost effective though.

That knife is pretty much what was in my mind, except using a CZ 75 magazine. i wonder how that knife would go having a few pins/screws holding the blade to the handle. I was going to try and keep the blade full length.

A while back a Canadian company was selling a folding knife that used 1911 grips.

if you google 1911 knife you will find it .

I don't know if it is still in production.

A CZ75, double-stack, 15rd 9mm mag would have quite a circumference....I've got one of Mark's knives like the one pictured and your idea would be quite a handful, pun intended. ;)

Yeah I realise that it would be quite a handful so I am thinking more of going wooden scales and smaller than the pistol grip.

I am going for more a Bowie style so a bigger grip wouldn't be too out of place I don't think.
