Thought this might be a fun thread to start! Most used/abused knife you own (pics!).

With respect to all of these amazing knives, many (dare I say most) of them aren't "used" in the true sense of the word. So...I thought it would be interesting to see pics and read words regarding your most used and/or abused knives. You know...those you just can't seem to get yourself to stop using regularly. I would LOVE, for example, to see a $1000.00 knife with a ton of scratches, abrasions, etc all over it from not being confined to life in a safe or a display case! I, for example, will be purchasing a Crusader Forge soon and I will absolutely use the Hell out of it. I apologize, in advance, if this has been done before. I will admit I didn't spend much time searching ;) . Also, someone else will have to start the ball rolling as I am relatively new to the world of knives and haven't had a chance to use one very much...YET. Feel free to close this thread if it's been done before or if no one wants to play ball.

This knife did this......

.....Which ultimately lead to this.

*The Fixed Skyline didn't do all of the work, but it did lead to a fun adventure and me chopping down my first "real" tree.*

Cool, I just happened to take this today. This is an India-made sword I use as a machete. I think it's 1055 steel, there are hammer marks all over it. I've cut through kilometers of saplings, branches, and small trees (Plus innumerable dirt-shots). This guy is a trooper! If I had to choose a sword for the battlefield, I'd go with this one. I know it's not gonna fail. I ordered it from an Internet Witchcraft Supply shop. I THINK it's a Windlass:

See...that's what I was hoping to see. Awesome. I hope this takes off...fun to see them being used as knives and not as display items LOL. Makes me want to go out in the back yard and cut a tree down with my ESEE-6...or with my Sebenza LOL. Thx guys.

I know it dosn't look like it but this Ka-Bar dozier folding hunter has seen allot of use, but a couple weeks ago I wanted to try and mirror polish a blade soooo you get the idea:D

I don't want to get off-topic but what method did you use to MP your blade?

Well basically what I used was:

)a small (a little over 1') piece of 2/4
)blue shop towels
)mother mags aluminum polish
)elbow grease;)

Essentially I folded a sheet of shop towel into a 5" by 2" rectangle put it on the 2/4 for backing and applied compound.

then I used a stabbing motion (you're pushing the blade away from you pulling it back the repeating) and after a good 15-20 minutes I had a nice mirror polish! (Thank "powernoodle" for telling me about this stuff, the compound I mean)

the fact that the towel will conform to the blade helps allot with hollow grinds by the way (FFG blades are the easiest)

I can get all this stuff at Walmart to! (Maybe not the 2/4 lol)

and lastly remember to dull the blade before doing this:thumbup:

This stuff.

It makes a great stropping compound to!

My native (stropped with mother mags)

And the second knife I did with it (SOG twitch II)

Hope it helps!

So anyone else with immaculate blades and grips that have been supposedly abused but are now pristine?? :-)

When did you get that guy? Looks like the sword of Valeria from Conan which at one point I believe Windlass used to make, but I'm not used to seeing hammer marks on Windlass stuff.

Well I wouldn't say it's been used regularly but it sure has been abused. 30 years old??? Sat in my spare tire well for several years. Layed on the back porch for over a year. Sat in a rusty dutch oven for who knows how long. Been in my tool box for five+ years now.

Great thread as I love to see everyone's old users!

I got this Solingen 8" Bowie in the early 1970'ies.
Klaas-Bowie1.jpg
It has stayed with me ever since and has been my go to knife for decades, when I have had the need for a bigger knife.
Nowadays it seldom sees use, but it has been used and abused many times.
The handle has cracked several times, but is now repaired and in usable condition.
The edge is worn down after all resharpenings and the blade has lost 2oz of weight.
It has seen rust but has been cleaned and sharpened.
The edge has bent over many times when hitting nails and other metals hidden in wood.
The tang has also bent when the handle cracked, but it is soft annealed and didn't break.

Today I keep it as a memory and uses other knives, but it's fully usable and very sharp!

Here it is with an unused 1964 Anton Wingen in stag.
This knife was bought from Ebay with help from Derrick at KSF, as the seller only shipped CONUS.
It serves as a reference, showing how much wear the wooden one has.

I'm very happy with both these Solingen Bowies and the Wingen is on a slow break-in procedure, with reassembling the handle and the edge made sharp.

Regards
Mikael

Most abused are these two, Becker Machax and Extrema Ratio Ontos. Honorable mention for abuse goes to my Randall 14, have used it hard, but not quite as hard as the machax and ontos. I've beat on them without mercy.

Most used is my 5.5" Randall 18.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce the the Cold Steel AK 47. I have had this knife for a little over two years. It has a nutnfancy clip mod (not recomended and installed before i knew better), a blade that has been reprofiled several times on my belt grinder (the blade has gone from 3.5 to 3.25 inches in legth, same as my kershaw blackout), and a clip that has been welded on TWICE (First mig then tig, neither by me despite the fact that im going to school for it).
