The pictures are of a 20" WWII model by Kumar. Largest WWII that I have. And I have a lot.

The handle is karam (haldu) wood, which is why I'm posting in the first place. The handle (and chakma/karda) have 17 coats of TruOil. I know it's a funny number, but I got tired of waiting for it to dry.

The best pictures are #11 and #9. View them on the 'original' setting. Takes a little scrolling, but those really show the colors best.

There are a couple of broken file pictures interspersed. Feel free to ignore them.

The wood is beautiful. Not sure how durable it is. There are a number of small cracks (not visible in the pictures) where the handle meets the bolster.

Aardvark?

No pictures for me.

(I think 8.64 is a funnier number. Always cracks me up when I see it.)

Delicacy forbids a response, most noble Kis.

I editted the &%$##@ post. What a moron. (not you).

Very well done and a unique look. Almost looks friendly. That color doesn't strike me as martial as many of the others.

Does look a little like a banana slug, doesn't it? In person, though, it's very nice.

Great job Aardvark, the dang thing fairly glows. I've got a 15" Siru that Steve Ferguson "tricked out" in a similar manner, and it never fails to produce an ooh and ahh from anybody I've shown it to. Haven't put a scratch on it, it's one of my "treasures". ;)

Beauty job.... I've seen that khuk before. Sometime early August.

20" WWII, karam wood... That sure looks like one I got by accident, and mailed back to HI next day. I've wanted a 20" WWII ever since...

Did it get switched, and the wrong one mailed to you? You would have recieved (to your horror) a WWII hill walnut villager blem.

Wondering. I'm sure it's the same khuk.

Ad Astra

Aardvark, That's beautiful. Almost looks like aged ivory. Walosi would be proud of you, as I am.

Sarge, I still have that beautiful khukuri by Sgt. Khadka that you sent me. It will always be my favorite.

AA, you've certainly got memory for khuks. That's exactly what happened, right down to the horror.

Steve, I think of Walosi every time I work on a handle. I think of you, too, but I don't want to sound too, well,...

Kevin, I'll see what I can come up with this weekend.

Guys, thanks for the kind works.

It does almost look like aged ivory. But my first impression was that it looked like plastic. I know it's not, but that many nice glossy coats of tru oil can be deceiving to the eyes. Great job.

If the kamis enter the 20th century to the degree that they put plastic handles on khuks, I'm outta here!

Whatsa matter; you don't want a Pachmayer recoil absorbing black grip on your khuks?

Looks great to me, Aardvaark. Like the others said, it almost appears not to be wood anymore. Nice work.
