Thoughts about AMnandi with inner cut Ivory

I recntly purchased a Mnandi with the creme inner cut mammoth ivory scales, it is a beautiful knife but it looks a bit too much like plastic, I still love it though and think maybe I should have purchased one with outer bark ivory.

I have an inner cut, too. I did ask for Hollywood-celebrity white smiles. But I got a very nice yellowish-ivory grainy inner bark which CRK's Heather describes as wedding dress lace ivory(thanks Heather, that was exactly what I thought of when I saw the scales.) BTW, when Heather and I were trying to nail down the color, descriptives like tea or coffee-stained teeth did come up to describe this color. But she finally got it as wedding dress ivory & lace.

I am glad I got this one instead since I do see some deeper and darker lines.

But coming from culture where I grew up with elephant tusk ivory, I do prefer the pure white/off-white no grain ones because over time, it will age with an un-even yellow and gain character.

I have to admit the outer bark look really stunning when there are lots of blue and sometimes orangy layers.

But if you keep it long enough, you will enjoy growing with the mammoth tooth = )

A Mnandi with inner ivory is high on my "next knife" list...
sonofjack - have you posted a pic yet?
KCkc - yours is GRAND! I had to look at your pic couple times before I noticed there were other knives in it!:D

That is one gorgeous knife!! I keep staring at it!! WOW, what a beauty!!

My daughters Mnandi, they were born on the same day.

Stjames, that's REALLY special. So the question is, when do you think you'll give it to her?

No picture yet, I have to buy a new battery for my camera.

Thanks for the compliments, Guys (and Gals).

Fooj (and please feel free to call me James or Jim, I noticed the edit, Buddy ;)), I guess I'll give it to her when she shows the responsibility required for both a good knife and a fine piece of jewelry. Right now I'm thinking it would make a nice sweet sixteen gift.

Now, that's thinkin' ahead! I've got a 12 year old daughter for which I've ordered an mnandi with a pink inlay --probably won't even get done this year, since I've told CRK that I'm in no hurry, and I'm waiting for just the right material to come in. I was thinkin' that this will probably be a college graduation gift. We'll see if she's outgrown pink by then . . .
