I really want to buy this knife and I just want to know your thoughts and some other options that are similar to this knife.

I havent seen this knife before today.
I looked it up to learn about it.
It definitely looks good. :)
The price seems fair for 154CM and aluminum, not to mention the extra hardware for the "auto".
It looks good on paper. Maybe an owner will chime in.

I had one and sold it to a friend. One of the best quality autos in it's class, IMHO. It was my first Protech and probably won't be my last. Fires hard, fit and finish is excellent. Blade locked up solid when open, no wiggle. My buddy who's pretty picky about blade play talked me out of it after the novelty wore off, but I do miss it. I don't think you'll regret buying one.

Be careful, though, as Protech is at the higher end of autos, and you'll find yourself wanting to have a whole collection of Protech, Microtech, and possibly other auto knives.

Be sure to check out the Godfather/Godson, if nothing else.

If you are legally able to own and purchase autos, Out The Front (OTF) knives by Microtech is a slippery slope of awesomeness.

I have a TR 3 and love it . For the money I think it is hard to beat. Very comfortable handle and the 154cm takes and holds a good edge. Getting that TR3 made me want another Protech. I say go for it. Oh yeah, It is true that they fire HARD! Nice solid lock up too.

IMO Protech makes the finest production ots autos out there. They fire hard and fast, lock up solid and feel great in the hand. The TR3 is the most comfortable in the hand of the Protechs I've owned but I think the Doru looks better. I'll never forget the first time I handed my brother-in-law my TR-3. He fired it and it damn near jumped out of his hand. The look on his face was priceless. So get one, but hang on tight!

Not sure about the TR-3 but I've handled a godson and it had a really really weak lock. Everything else beside that was good, but you could get the lock to fail extremely easily. A lot of autos tend to be like that though, a Benchmade AFO will fail very easily with the safety not engaged also.

Protech is quality stuff. They are duty grade autos. I love the TR4. They all fire hard and fast. Think Emerson meets autos meets high quality and you get the idea. Oh yeah, they did meet and had a baby. A CQC-7 baby. And its nasty.

I just bought the TR4 it is awesome, and yes,now I want the tr3 . Great knife solid lockup, and it fires hard.
