Title says it all. Whats everyone's opinions on sleipner steel in usage. Mostly edc.

I don't own a blade with Sleipner but my neighbor/hiking buddy has the Lionsteel M5 with it and I've used it many times. Very good steel imo. Hoping a user Lionsteel folder with Sleipner shows up in the For Sale forums, I'd like to own one.

Isn't Sleipner a kind of modified D2. As in modified to have almost as high wear resistance while better toughness and edge stability than D2. This was done by lowering the chrome from 11 or 12% down to around 8% ( 7.8% according to factory ) while upping the moly substantially. I have had only 1 knife from 1 manufacturer in this steel and it seems competent but I have not tested it's limits or come close. Note this is different from CTS XHP which is a D2 modification designed to improve the corrosion resistance which actually classifies it as a stainless steel. DC 53 is an analog to Sleipner from Daido from which I've only seen one knife using so far. I can't recall which one though.

Edit: Lowered carbon also from 1.5% down to .9%
