Not sure I know the answer but I would agree with your assessment. There are a lot of great members on this forum. I don't spent a lot of time in many of the other areas of the board so there may be a similar atmosphere in those venues but in ours it definitely exists.
Yes, we can be a little fan boyish, brand loyal but we are also passionate and sometimes those can tend to overlap.
Part of the attitude may be because Buck has been around for such a long time, they aren't constantly trying to put out the next best, greatest knife ever. IMHO Buck strives to do well what they do, bend over backwards to make the customer happy and at the end of each day leave the world a little better place.
We also spend a lot of time on this forum discussing and sharing data, knowledge, details, etc., about old Buck products. That type of interaction tends to be less inviting to controversy and animosity than other forums where the topics are more related to the newest steel offering and the latest model the company didn't make right and didn't make perfect. Sure, we can get some ruffled feathers and disagreement on when a certain variation or feature first originated but those feathers don't stay ruffled forever.
