Just came back from a knife nut meeting and wow, it was something. I'd like to thank all the folks that attended the impromptu San Francisco meeting, I always learn a lot and want more
.
D2 Sifu, Mad Dog, Busse, Strider, Mission, Reeve, Ruana all sharp as hell and tanks. Elishewitz, Reeve, Chew, Barr, Stout, Thomas, Mayo precise and elegant. I can see why custom is addicting. Mike Snody was excellent, very similar to JSP in my opinion but thicker, words can't do it justice. Strider built like a tank and the best cord wrapping I've seen, bar none.
J. March's "Outsider" impressive and much more subtle than on picture. Must be seen to be appreciated as well as Jim's knife draw.
SOG Vision, nice ergos, hated the clip. BM 710, I like it but not grippy enough for me, still like AFCK. Spyderco Harpy very usable, feels similar to G-10 Police but I hate ATS-55. CRKT-M16 I like the overall length.
Spyderco Toad should be called the Tadpole, my gosh that was small but solid lockup.
Spyderco G-10 Native with Inlay, nice and much tighter than zytel, more secure. Al Mar Havana Cutter, cute but Al Mar didn't
pass my card cutting test well. I brought cards for folks to cut as some hold cutting power overall. Microtech Halo 3, a rocket and Socom Elite, nice design but real light.
The Madd Maxx, shorter than I thought but light in the hand. Lighter to the touch and a little prettier than the Sifu.
There were many others that I didn't see, for now.
Just how interested were we in each other's knives. 90 minutes into meeting and we barely started into the first pizza.
I also learned that alot of forumites like ebony.
