I have a vivid memory of my dad giving me and my brother our buck knives. It was Christmas, sometime around 1990, and they were 25th commemorative edition with nickel bolsters and a pattern etched on the blade. I still have mine, and I'm almost certain my brother has his.
A couple weeks ago I saw that 50th Anniversary ones were available and I realized that I should should someday carry on the tradition and give them big old 110's - knowing that their little hands may never actually be big enough.
In my short years of being a parent, I've grown to appreciate how things given to siblings should be very similar and equal whenever possible, but certainly not identical and indistinguishable.
I have 3 kids. Standard and finger grooved are the obvious choices for the first two, but I don't know what to get for #3.
I don't expect a 3rd 2014 model of the 110s to be released. A 112 is maybe a better size. Honestly, it'll be a few years before I'm comfortable with them having a large or heavy folder, so I could just wait a year or two until those "50th" plaque/badges aren't on them anymore, but the whole point of this exercise is to get 50ths for my kids since I've always appreciated that my dad gave me a 25th.
Any thoughts?
