Been trying to stop myself from spending yet more money on a knife....

Does anybody own this Böker trench knife?

It's a replica of the 1915 knife issued to some German soldiers in the trenches.
comes in 4 models: Damascus(too expensive) Carbon steel replica of the original with walnut scales(looks very good but all that potential rust:eek: )Stag scales and carbon steel and a stainless version with micarta(I'm up for this one)

Any views on this?

Get your heads around this: It's actually a lot cheaper for me to buy it in the US and have it sent to the EU even with shipping or import taxes than to buy it from Germany which is nearly next door to me! You lucky Americans, lucky our Euro is so strong too:D it's the same with Fällkniven knives, they cost a mint here(not too cheap with you either)and Finland IS next door to Sweden.Although I'm told Fällkniven are all made in Japan, not so sure about that, the steel is I know but...

Dont worry about that, take care of it and you'll be fine, unless you diving with it, its fine.

That just sucks :D

Have fun with choosing, be sure to show a review or two :)

Still suspicious of the carbon steel, most especially on the tang, sweat from hands starts off rust and then how to clean it without abrading the scales???

Then carbon has that smell that makes it awkward for food prep(mind you, I admit this is not a culinary blade!) Still brooding, stag be nice though but that's carbon too!

Well, the 440C version looks fine, if you like that better, I say go for it.

This might interest you, look down the page abit at the trench knife.
