I'm just starting out my knife collection, and I have some spydies(which I really like) a ZT301 and yesterday I got my first benchmade. I have to say that I love this knife. The axis lock rocks on it, its got a nice size blade and thick blade tip. Handles look really good with ok ergos. It does have some sharp edges on the handles and I have really rough hands. Not a deal breaker or anything super uncomfortable. I carried it today and even for a larger folder I really didn't notice it there. It may however get me in trouble here in ohio. I'm not sure but the blade may be a little long for this state. Anymore I feel like I'm breaking law just by waking up, so that's not a concern either. Most of all I really really like this steel. It came sharper than any of spydies and way sharper than the zt, also had much more even edge than both. I know that's not the norm but for the knifes I have(which is limited) its true. This morning I sharpened it on combination of spydie ceramics and dmt diasharps, followed by stropping on felts strops with Hand American 1-.25 spray. I got a really nice mirror edge pretty quickly, which I cant say for my s30v knifes. I can get s30v mirrored nicely just takes a lot longer. From what I've seen online about m4's edge retention and toughness, I know its not going to let me down. I see a lot of m4 folders in my future. I'm thinking m4 for folders and 3v for fixed blades and I'll be walking down blade easy street. Anyhow not much to complain about on this knife. It does have a little side to side blade play, more than I would have expected for this kind of knife. Again not a deal breaker and nothing I'm concerned about. I'm not hard on folders.
