I just got a Canal St. fixed blade in Amber Stag Bone and I like it enormously! The sheath is a quality bit of kit too (not always the case with fixed blades of other makes:eek: )

Does anybody have experience of their folders at all? I see the company will be making the 2007 knife but the pattern is not to my taste.

I'm thinking of a Trapper and will it be D2 or Stainless...all views appreciated.

Just bought a big sleeveboard pattern CS the other day. It is a very well made piece. This has 2 blades, a double backspring, 420 stainless though. Blades have nice action and the finish on them is superb.

I have nine models of their standard amber stag bone range and are happy with all of them. I returned a swing guard folder with a crack in the handle from one of the pins, no problem with customer service either.

people feel good enough about them to use them again as the blade forums knife for a second year-

i have a stag ring opener,a bone muskrat and gave a a blue bone stockman as a pay it forward knife-

I have just about all of the amber bone slippie series from '06, and I like them quite a bit. Fit, finish, and quality of materials is right up there with Queen and S&M, though S&M does tend to be a bit fancier (threaded bolsters, etc). The whittler is a true splitback, with a nice brass wedge.

The usual suspects have complained about the blade steel. There is some valid confusion that CSC doesn't seem to be too interested in clearing up: It's listed as "420 high carbon" on their website. Some vendors list it as "420 stainless". Others as "420HC". This really matters to some people, to the point that they have proclaimed CSC as "beautiful junk" made only for the collector market. I happen to strongly disagree, but this opinion is considered valid by some.

They do make some A2 as evidenced by the BFC '06 knife, and are starting to work in D2 based on the '07 knife. But those steels are only available on specific knife models.

I like them and will buy more.

I bought a CS Amber Bone Gunstock around the end of last year. I wanted something a little more expensive without breaking the bank. It came down to Schatt & Morgan and CS , CS is located a few towns over from where I live , so I decided to buy their product first.

I don't know if all CS folders have a full half-stop, but my gunstock has one of the best half-stops I ever tried.

The knife is nicely finished and I plan on buying the matching large reverse gunstock.

I have a Schatt Sway Belly Trapper on the way, so I'll compare the two after I get it.

Saw your pix in another post, fine photography thank you!

That S&M is one monster!

Of the big three left, Queen, Canal Street and Case, I love the F&F, razor sharp outa da box and like rosconey2 mentioned chosen as one of BFC's forum knife 2 years running and I'm plunkin' down $110 of money I really don't have because the 2006 forum ring opener impressed me that much.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

After the Canal Street sales rep assured me that they took the extra time to harden their steel properly, I bought and used this guy for a while. They do harden the steel well. It will hold an edge for quite a while.

I have the Muskrat with threaded bolsters that I bought from Sooner State Knives. It is a quality knife with good steel. I like it and would buy more and I have to admit that gunstock right above me is driving me crazy.

Yeah, I bought that one the second I saw the pinched and threaded bolsters. In fact, I think I'll pick up mine when I go home for lunch today.

The Amber Bone (jigged) Trapper I recently got is an imposing knife. The finish is formidable, sharp edges despite mutterings about 420HC,extremely nice to handle. Half stop and spring are not much to write home about though and this surprised me. Canal St. offers its products in enviable boxes as well, a bonus point, shan't be slicing these up:D
