I just received my shepherd hills catalog and case will be releasing knives with carbon fiber handles this summer. Thoughts?? I'm liking the soddie myself but I'm just not sure.

I think carbon fiber makes a fabulous looking scale material on the knives I've seen it on. I don't know why the Case knives would be different, but the catalog pictures I've seen look pretty ugly. I think they will look a lot better than the Case pictures.

I looked at them a while back on there site, and don't remember which models it was on other than the Soddie. Seems like it would make for a good soddie handle.
Not sure about the quality of the Carbon Fiber, but if it's of decent quality it should be tough, light, and grip well when wet or bloody.

I think they look good but I also heard the carbon fiber models will be quite a bit more expensive.

Carbon fiber is fairly pricey stuff and it takes quite a few layers to make a piece thick enough for knife scales.

It's a cool idea, and I'm sure they are really light, but I definately won't be buying one. I'm not willing to cough up 50 more bucks just because the handle is carbon fiber. Yellow derlin is serving me just fine...

I dig it on the sodbuster, though I'd prefer a large with CV blade. That would be a lot of steel in a feather-light package.

Yeah the price is a turn off, but everything else is pretty interesting, especially if they used lightning strike cf

Generally speaking, I find carbon fiber a very unattractive material. And it's entirely unsuited to traditional pocketknives. On the other hand it would be a durable 'using' knife, if it were priced like a using knife.

MSRP on the Sod Buster Jr. is $116.60. :thumbdn:
Makes me wonder how much Qantas pays for those airplane seats!

Nor me. Don't even like it on the dashboards of expensive cars, it's grim and uninviting.

Their black G-10 is a synthetic that looks good on knife handles though. Have a Slimline Trapper in it, looks really nice in this. Pity it has such an irritating raised spring in the open position.

I think the orange or black g10 look good on a Case but I'm just not to sure about putting such a "tactical" material on a slippie.
