I have created a detent ball ramp on the tang of my zt 0350 and a couple others. I believe the Spyderco para2 come with one. I'm on the fence about it. It feels a little smoother to close the knife. Being that the ball catches the ramp instead of the tang edge. What do you guys think. Functional mod or wast of time.

I kind of like how he detent can catch against the blade tang when closing the knife. Obviously I can get my thumb out of the way even without the tang catching the detent, but I still kind of like this "feature"

That is what I like as well. I like both ways so it's difficult to judge if I'm going to do it to a couple more or not. I have done it to a zt 0350 and 0450. The flipper tab catches my thumb when closing so in this case i still have my fingers.

It seems like some custom makers do put detent ball ramps on theirs. My custom frame lock has it, too, and it is quite nice to have it. The detent on mine is quite strong, such that the blade is not free falling despite running on bearings anyway.

I believe that my Southard Tolk does not have a ramp, and would not like to have a ramp on it because the blade is almost free-falling.
