Thoughts on Kinves of Alaska?

I used to sell them. It was all the rage with hunters, and for good reason. Steel holds its edge for a long time through multiple skinnings. bit of a troublemaker for re sharpening and corrosion resistance, but nothing that cant be controlled

I got their TI hobo knife and love it. I hate to admit it, but it gets way more use than my skinner on hunting trips lol.

I have heard they are good knifes. The big plus is that they are USA made. The odd thing to me is that a knife company named Knives of Alaska are made in Texas!

I was recently very disappointed in my first product from Knives of Alaska. During my first attempt to use the small knife in a two-knife fillet set, I found it to be so dull that it was unusable for the task. The larger of the set was very sharp, so this seems to be clearly a breakdown in QC, or no inspection at all.

A session with a Sharpmaker brought it to an edge that would finish the work with extra effort, but it still needs some further work.

What steel are they made of? I saw these when looking for a general-use camp knife, and was intrigued.
