Hey guys so I'm pondering whether to get the KME system, and to be its pretty damn expensive. Is it worth it? And no, stuff like Wicked Edges or Edge Pros are totally out of my budget. Just thinking to upgrade from my lansky. Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences of the KME system!

Ps, the price I'll be able to get one is US$210, due to not living in the US...

i began saving 4 a guided system when i had collected half a dozen knives, some needing more work then the sharpmaker was designed to deliver
i choose KME because of reputation of 4 diamond stone kit, safety, clamp, cost, and training fit for my boys.
We love ours, just got stone thickness compensator for the dmt eef
i appreciate the even consistent bevels compared to my freehand sharpening as a finish meat cutter when i was a pup, and 2 season outdoors lover fishing, hunting, hiking and camping
gritomatic has the capstone pro for 200 which updates materials and features that make it very competitive with other guided systems now, but adding 4 diamond stone kit increases cost again… - i want to try one… i wish i could rent one for 6 months for fun-
looked for used kme for months and never saw one, but did see lots of used apex pros, which were good guided systems but not a fit for us
i paid 205 for kme + bas, and we are in the commie republic of california.

All depends on how unhappy you are with the Lansky's results.

For me, the Lansky was fine for basic work. But, as the quantity and variety of my knives grew, the Lansky did not give me the flexibility, consistency, and refinement I increasingly wanted.

I upgraded to the DMT Aligner system awhile back but now but I'm considering selling it and getting the KME.

If the KME is within your budget, you won't find a better system for flexibility, consistency, repeatability, and ultra high finishes.

Buy it and then sell it later. Consider any price difference your 'rental cost'.

Have had and extensively used the KME for a year on a wide variety of kitchen, pocket and hunting knives.

Worth more than it's cost if one uses it.

Can't imagine I'll ever want or need another sharpening system.

If you search this forum, you'll find plenty of favorable reports. Believe them.

The lansky is enough for a good shaving sharp working edge but i feel the need to want better quality stuff and more accessories.

Its a high quality unit. But lacks the capability of the larger WEPs and EP systems. But it has a solid selection of stone offerings, with a wider aftermarket selection of offerings.

Love my KME.

Guess i will pull the trigger once i have enough funds. Im also thinking of doing sharpening services once good enough with it and have enough fancy accessories, hope that it would be able to pay back some of the money spent on it😁
