Thoughts On Lakota Knives

I just found this small outfit that seems to make some really good blades for the money (near custom quality) but can't seem to find much about them, so I'm asking the experts here.

I've had two Lakota knives for years, like 20 maybe. One small fixed blade called the fin wing and one small lockback. They served me well when I carried and used them. I'm not sure where they are made now but the two I have were from Seki Japan.

IMO, the designs used by Mr. Hoffman's second company (He lost Lakota), Condor, were more refined. 'Course, he lost Condor as well, but the Condor knives show up on eBay from time-to-time -- more so than Lakota. The lock-backs on both lines are quite solid.

My Lakota Lil' Hawk is a beast of a folder. I stopped carrying it when I decided it was just too much weight to lug around for a cutting edge the length of a Spyderco Delica's. If I remember right, it was made by G. Sakarai of Seki City, Japan.

Lakota's are excellent knives if you're looking for a beast of a knife. They're heavy and robust for any use. The blade construction is excellent though AUS8A is not received as highly as it used to ... It sharpens extremely easy and slices like there's no tomorrow. I have the Hawk, Pro hawk and Fin Wing and can't recommend them highly enough. If weight is an issue, look else where. If utility is desired, then these are the knives you want.
