Any thoughts or comments on the new modified Bucks by Michael Prater?
The ones I have seen look good, nice colors. Anyone have any thoughts one way or the other?

I like custom new knives though I limit most of what I buy to 110 I do sometimes buy others if the price is descent. I have about a dozen I bought in the past month but have not gotten around to photos yet.

Some green ones and a red swirl color I don't know what name he gives them.
I had to think about that and the count is 14 in 5 weeks, I will buy a lot more as soon as more of my other knives sell. Do you think maybe I am a little hooked?

I would love to see more custom 110 offered here but I supose everyone is holding on to them.

I really like the file work that he does as well as the work to the bolsters. I'm not a real fan of all those exotic scales he uses. I'd like to get one of his knives with the mastodon tusk scales and the file work. As a 110 collector, I think a sample of his work as well as samples of David and Brian Yellowhorse are necessary to make the collection complete.

The price of a Yellowhorse starts getting a bit high so you really have to find one thats just right.

Guess I'm gettin' old. Like Mike (notice I put a period after "old"), I'm starting to think I'm gonna stick to knives I won't be too afraid to drop if I were to use it.
I was all excited to order one...then I got it. Don't get me wrong...it's very nice. Like Jimbo said...very nice quality work.
Just not "me".

Thinking of trading it...

very good looking knife

understood about afraid to use it, but these type of knives really are not for use, I have enough user knives and then some. Many of my display knives will go to my son and grandsons in the meantime hardly a day goes by that I don't stop to look at them pick a few up and just enjoy them.

Most all of my 110 collection has never cut a thing. But to me, well, I dunno. Kine like the red headed step child of my small collection.

Michale Prater does some excellent work on both scales and filework.

And he guarantees his work. Like I am going to EDC one....lol....

Hummmm,,,,difficult pondering going on here.....it hurts too....

Well...give it some SIRUS thought and shoot me an e-mail so I won't be stealing this good man's thread anymore.

Sorry Azis.

Back to thread: I think I'll keep an eye open for a stripey Prater. I like those a lot.

I like MP's work......But, like da goose said.....I'm not fond of the swirly plastic look. MP has great looking file work and I like the mixed stone inlays. Take a look at the MP web site.....lots of cool buck 110's.

No complaints from me with the quality of customizing work put out by Michael Prater. I definitely like his use of metal & stone and filework plus what he does with the bolsters is great!
