Hello all. Just thought i would share some thoughts on my new Buck 110, I ordered it from PCKS with BG-42 blade, Nickel bolsters/rivets, and Indigo Roylwood. It looks amazing, I love the fit/Finish, It's almost like a real Custom :) It's kinda heavy in the hand(for a folder) and seems to make me feel confident holding it. It lock's up solid, I was unable to make it fail under some quick tests, It would be impossible to fail if you were holding it beacuse your hand would hold the locking bar down. It was scary sharp out of the box, great for no contact shaving :) It cuts almost effortlessly through cardboard/paper, It also handles rope fine. But utility work was not what i got it for, I got it to be my knife where a Tactical folder(like my CRKT M18) might look to out of place. Or when i want to show off, it looks pretty sweet. All in all I am very impressed with the blade, i hope i can look forward to years of trusty service. Be warned all people reading this, I would not reccomend this as a EDC unless you go and actually hold one first, its pretty big, and fairly heavy for a folder, make sure you can handle it first :)

I believe that PCKS only does 110s right now, but here's hoping that they expand things!!!!

Rifter - I'm glad you dig the PCKS 110. These knives really are excellent. They give you that freaky pride of ownership thing, that is hard to get in anything less than a true custom. Buck does an awesome job on these knives. And wow does that BG-42 cut!!!! I'm a big time Sebenza lover, but I'd go as far as to say that Buck's BG-42 might be even better than Reeve's.

Took me under 2 weeks from order to recieveing it, and im in canada :)
I love this knife, there is just something about it that seems solid, its the only folder i have handled that I would trust in any situation. To do anything.

Bingo.

I have this knife (actually one of nine) on my belt, pretty much all the time. Despite Spydercos and Benchmades in my other pockets, its just comforting to get the solid 110 out to use. I can cut the skinof an orange (almost every day), decimate cardboard boxes, do ropework, and slice a hoagie. There's no knife quite like it.

The BG-42 blades are amazing. I'm also very impressed with the Buckcote blades - I've yet to have to sharpen one, though I haven't field-dressed any critters with them.

A 110 is a big, solid knife. But, I like that.

Folsom, did ya ever notice that you can open & use a 110 and folk's don't
think much about it they are so used to this knife, but take out a one hand
wonder of the same size and folk's not only notice but squirm a bit.

Thinks it's got something to do with "image" or some such thing.

Yup. I did have someone, at the blood bank, ask me what I needed such a large knife for, after I used it to open a box for her. I just told her it was for slicing hoagies! Only time anybody has ever commented.

if you like the bg 42, try the damascus. you'll really fall in love. And it gives you new blade handle combos to try.

Rifter, congrats on the Buck 110 custom shop. The Buck 110 is a classic. The 110 fills the hand nicely.

I got so riled up over this thread, so I tried to order a 110 from the custom shop. I kept getting an http error message that my credit card was not getting processed. Usually when that happens, something is wrong with their server.

Anyway, I was going to order one with the Sambar stag scales, nickel silver bolsters and pins, and BG-42 satin finish blade. A question for owners with the nickel silver bolstered 110's. Does it also have nickel silvered liners? If it does, I wonder if the nickel silvered 110's would be lighter than the brass bolstered and brass liner knives?

I will call Buck this coming Monday, and place an order for a custom 11O, and join the crowd. Big D1

Please bear with me and pardon my ignorance, but where can I find a product catalogue for PCKS (also, what does it stand for?)

SpyderJon-

PCKS= Pete's Custom Knife Shop

Just go to buckknives.com and click on it.

It takes awhile to load, but it is pretty cool to be able to see the knife with the options that you select.

Rifter, yes that helps. I figured if it had nickel silver bolsters, it would also have nickel silver liners. I bet that does make a pretty Buck 110 with the nickel silver liners. Now, if I can get all that, and with that little button that makes it automatic, I will have a sweet piece. Big D1

BigD1, Mate, don't get your hopes about an "automatic" version 110
from Buck. Those were aftermarket conversions that Buck will not
touch for warranty work. The company that made them went out of
business awhile back too.

As to the Nickle Silver bolsters I have one and am sure you will be
quite impressed. Mine has finger grooves w/ stag & Bg-42 blade.
A very impressive SOLID knife.

Say, does anyone know if there is anything special needed to care for the natural material slabs on the Buck 110 customs (I'm thinking about either the stag or the Buffalo horn)? would it be better to get the slabs in wood if I wanted to use the knife as an EDC? Just curious!

I'm sorry to have left this off, but would it be better to get BG 42, or ATS 34?:o Again, so sorry!
