Thoughts on my TGLB dye job?

I've never been a fan of the "tan" canvas micarta scales that came on my TGLB, so this weekend I attempted to improve them with a RIT dye job. I used the Navy Blue color and I ended up with a dark blue/purplish tint. What do you all think of the color? Also the aluminum flared tubing absorbed some of the dye. Any ideas to fix them?

1-22-14- just a quick update on the dye. The color is holding up 100% with no fading or bleeding. I did find some significant rust on the tang around the micarta scales. I'm talking ugly red/orange corrosion here. It's not surprising since the blade soaked in the solution of salt water/RIT dye for 2 hours. Anyway, after a liberal scrubbing with hot soapy tap water followed by a liberal oil bath it is rust free. The flared tubing was also restored to original color after the oil bath/scrub. Over all I'm very pleased with the results. Thanks for looking!

Awesome job! I love the rit dye look. I did my FBM G10 handles and they came out awesome. Nice work on the TGLB... that's an awesome knife!

I dig it! If you want to brighten the alum flares dremel has a felt cone tip that would prob brighten them up.

That looks really nice. I love to use Kiwi shoe polish on all my micarta to make it pop and change the color a little.

Second! I have used it with fitz,it is like it was made for the job.

That's somewhat similar to my TGLBM!

I dig that tglbm! Is it just tan canvas with oil applied, or did you treat the scales?
Thanks for the great feedback guys. I'll take your advice and leave the tubing as is for now. If I decide I don't like it I'll give the dremel a shot with some Mothers polish.

I like it, came out really nice. Nice job :)

An improvement. I like it. The color looks like dried blood. The dye does not come off on a sweaty hand?

Like it! I darken my tan canvas with mineral oil. Turns it a nice reddish-brown. And if I use too much, it evaporates over time. Cheers.

Cool idea with the dye. I am also curious as to whether or not the dye rubs off on hands with use.

Thanks! I haven't had any bleeding or rubbing off of the dye, even after an aggressive scrub with hot soapy water and a toothbrush. I did run into some nasty looking rust inside the talon holes and outlining the scales though. It wasn't a huge surprise since the TGLB soaked in a solution of hot salt water mixed 1:1 with RIT dye for 2-3 hours.
