Thoughts on N690c steel?

It's probably the most popular steel from Euro manufacturers (Fox knives, Lionsteel, Boker higher end, etc). I like it, though mine have been coated so I can't comment on corrosion resistance. As for edge retention, it's been pretty nice.

I had a Sigtac Rangemaster contracted by FOX to SIG but manufactured by Lionsteel. It folded instead of chipped under hard use so it's not super hard, yet held it's edge very well. I like it and think they found a really good balance.

I've been really impressed with the N690 in my Phil Rose PSK 2. I was expecting an "ok" steel but I would say it is excellent. It holds an edge well enough and is on the easier side to maintain. What really strikes me about this knife is the edge and tip toughness. Some slips I've had with it would've done a lot more damage on some of my other knives. This knife, at least, has been crazy resistant to any major edge deformation.

There's not a whole lot of info out there about the steel so I'd also be stoked to hear more folks input!

It is very close to Japanese VG-10.

It has about 1.5% more chrome.

I only have it on one knife from Viper knives out of Italy.

I find it to be a good steel for sharpness and edge-holding.

Corrosion-resistance is good too.

I had a Benchmade with it that I liked quite a bit, similar properties as VG-10, 154cm, ATS-34. Easy to sharpen, good edge holding, good corrosion resistance. If the exact same knife came with a choice of 154cm or N690co and both were the same price, I'd buy which ever was the closest distance to my mouse pointer.
