W-mart (in my area) finally got their knife display up. It was a tough week of waiting, but I snagged a Zing on Friday. I will say I agree with all the possitive comments about this knife.
Now a comment or two, 1-the handle materal has a good texture (much like the G-10 of the Skyline and most Spyderco's G-10) IMO it falls in order of grippiness(texture removed) Santoprine (sp?) then Noryl GTX (classic Mini-Grip) then FRN (classic Delica/Endura) and G-10. **just one man's opinion** 2- the blade has a good basic shape but I could do without the groves. One thing i already discovered, you can take 800/1000 grit sandpaper and remove the beadblast finish from just the top part of the groves and this will make them slick and aid in cutting through thicker materal. I haven't spent a lot of time with the new steel, but it does get very, very sharp. 3- I was disappointed to find plasitic washers in the pivot, seeing as the last 5/6 or so Kershaws have had bronse washers. I always saw this as a quality move on their behalf.
Let the record show that I really like this knife and will carry it untill I see the next knife I can't live without. It has nice liners that are thicker than you usually see and lock-up is strong.
Things I will probablly do to this knife, I dont care for the clip and I like smaller knives, so I will shorten and add a better clip. Add PB washers and remove the sharp edges from the liners.
