Thoughts on Opinel's QC

To start I'm not at all bashing the company or the brand, I've been carrying opinels off and on for years and they are excellent knives and take a sure beating
However--- I've noticed their QC is very colorful and seems random at times
Anyone else notice this?
I've ordered lots of no. 7's, no. 6's, no. 8's, and they would arrive in many different conditions, some perfect examples, some overly tight where the virobloc ring scratches the ferrule, and some loose virobloc and floppy blade-dangerous to use examples.
Again I'm not shaking a cane at opinel, but it compels me to wonder out loud here.
 
Yes, I usually get them from physical shops, and test a few before deciding.

Their more expensive models (e.g. with the corkscrew, fancier wood ) are more consistent

The plastic handled ones are all good.
 
ive only ever had two of em not counting the mini key chain ones i got in Paris, but i dont think those are for actual use other then maybe letter opening. Both of the full size ones I bought were no 9s and came fine. i just dont know where they went at this point. For a sub $15, they were great. Can even mod them too.
