Hey folks,

I'm considering trying out a Queen fixed blade in D2. I just wondered if any of you have one or have had experience with them?

Good quality like Queen usually has?

I already know about the D2 and I like it.

Specifically I was eying the Queen Canoe Cutlery fixed blade.

Opinions appreciated. :)

FYI, I did a search and found old threads from 2007 and 2003. That info may still be accurate.

I have used a Queen light hunter for years now with no complaints.
Same quality as we've come to expect from Queen, and if you like D-2 what more could you ask?? I'm partial to the #98 skinning blade myself.
As a matter of fact I just got 2 new ones in amber carved bone stag for some hunting friends.

Are they full tang or partial?

Here's a nice shinny one.:D

Dude thanks for those pics. That's nice looking. They are pretty inexpensive too. Like under $45 it seems most places.

Awesome!

I'm gonna snag one I think.

I have a Premium Hunter with a drop point in oak and D2

Honestly I have not used it yet
But it a solid piece of Queen D2, so what is there to go wrong??
The edge is okay, but I would rework it myself
The oak is nicely worked

Same price point as you are talking about

Oh ya, I had to reprofile the edge on all 3 of these knives..... but come to think of it I've reprofiled every fixed blade knife I've ever owned!!
Guess I'm just picky.

Yeah everything from Queen I've had has come butter-knife dull. I've had to resharpen all of it. (probably about 6 knives total)

You'd think they could get that covered. :)

What I meant to say was that it came with a working sharp factory grind.

And that I will rebevel it to get it to where I want it.

Also the sheath is nice...

I would recommend this knife from the way it feels and how it looks, and the price point.

I have a sense of a real working knife in my hand

Thank you knowtracks for the picture.
I now american fixedblades that come here to be thick steeled knifes with steap secondary edgeangles. This seams to be an examle of something quite different. Im glad as this is much more in my taste, But I will newer try one as I dont want to start any new waves of things to bye. This is after all even if different the same Idea of how a cuttingtool should be constructed as in most traditional scandinavian blades.

Hi,

Every time I get to thinking I need a new fixed blade I look at the Queens. I just haven't got one yet because my Mora seems to fill my needs just fine. I wonder why there isn't more love for them here. They have classic good looks with excellent steel. What's not to love?

Especially the ones with burl handles, with the quality D2 and a very nice sheath, are about the best value in the current marketplace.

The Green Maple handled one I own is a very good knife for the money and more. If ONLY Queen would use that Green Maple Burl on their pocket-knives instead of BEM.....
I swim against the tide to an extent in that I don't enthuse over the sheath so much, it's alright but don't favour the pale colour. Instead, I use a dangler puukko sheath in black.

These knives are certainly worthwhile, any collection is enhanced by one.

I have known about their Canoe fixed blade for a bit, but only recently thought it might be a good idea to get one.

The more I think about it, the better an idea it seems

D2, that pretty amber bone. Pommel, perfectly shaped blade - just trying to find out how thick the steel is.

Looks pretty much ideal for most things, other than splitting knots :D

Think I am just going to sink funds into the whole matter and find out that way
