Hey Guys I never post vids here but I recently did a video discussion of Schrade knives (Taylor Brand). As a bit of a knife snob I don't find a lot of their stuff appealing but I will say I like some of what they do. What about others love them or hate them or somewhere in between.

They're good for the money especially for Chinese knives, the real dissapointment is called Schrade with no relation to the original company. With all the automation available I hope eventually Taylor would move manufacturing back to America, at least that's where the Schrade brand should be made.

I like their reeve hollow handle one piece copies. Darn good for the price point.

I like that they use 1095 in some of their fixed blades. Quality seems to be up And down. Ive only owned one schrade, it was an auto. Decent constrution, soft blade steel with a little play. I Watch a lot of your videos, really enjoy them, great reviews. Schrade doesnt seem like your cup of tea.

Not a fan of the Jessica X at all. The few of Schrade's other models that I own have been surprising performers considering their price; their handles and painful jimping aside.

Many Schrade knives are functional and affordable for the budget minded. For not terribly much more money I would get a Becker instead but that hasn't and doesn't stop me from owning a few Schrade knives although they are not my preference - even at their price point, notwithstanding their functionality.

Acquiring and using the Schrade name is kind of a minus in my view. Their designs and execution could have and should have stood on their own rather than borrowing a name that is, other than acquired property, unconnected with the company.

They aren't my favorite company but every so often the come up with something I want to check out

I have a couple Chinese autos. It's okay quality. I can say pretty damn sharp.

My thoughts exactly.

I do not know who designs Taylor's Schrades and Smith & Wessons (Knifecenter implies that Taylor's own guy, Mike Stewart, is responsible for the designs), but they are definitely original and decent looking enough to stand and sell on their own merits without needing to latch onto the acquired or licensed brandings.
