I really like the look of the ScrapYard SOD! who out there has one and how do you like it?

Thanks
RickJ

How is SR77 and what does it compare to, 1095?

RickJ

It is tougher and it holds an edge about as well as 1095. It is the Busse heat treat that takes S7 shock steel and makes it into a useful cutlery steel that still has the toughness of a jack hammer bit. Very high performance in toughness. It does not have quite the edge holding of some other steels, but still more than adequate and easy to sharpen, too.

SR77 is derivative of S7, which is one the toughest steels on the market. Usually it is used for jackhammer bits.

Edit: Damn, Horn Dog was faster...

1. The website shows you can get it in tan! Are they still putting the SOD out in Tan?

2. Do Scrapyard Knives come with a sheath or do you have to get your own like Busse Knives does?

3. About how long is there delivery time after you order from them?

Thanks,

RickJ

1 They have sold out of SODs, but a new model is coming "soon".

2 Usually you must find your own sheath, but if you can find a SOD, the Cordura sheath for the Scrapper 6 from SY will fit the SOD. Not the kydex, though.

3 See the ordering info in the sticky at the top of the SY Forum page.

Good luck.

I've got one and it might replace my Camp Tramp as my hiking/packing blade. I'd have to carry it on more outings to find that out and by then I'm sure it will almost always come with me. I love it...

SOD is my favorite knife I own. I will put it up against any knife out there in a torture test and am sure it will hold its own if not win. This thing is built like a tank for sure! SR77 is a great steel!

Definitely the second-coming of the Camp Tramp in SR77. Woulda been funny if they did it in SR101. LOL

Many folk dislike the Randall-style choil. Personally, I don't care. I didn't get one b/c

1. I'm trying to go DOWN in # of blades.

2. I've got a Camp Tramp.

3. I forgot. LOL

But it is a nice lookin knife.

im ready to see which one stands up better to abuse... my SOD or the NMSFNO i have coming :)

The SoD is a very good, perhaps even great knife. I bought a few and (other than having to transfer money from savings to pay off my CC bill) I'm very happy. I waited on the fence too long placing my order to get LE#60, but that's not as big a deal as I thought it would be to me -- eventually I'd miss getting #60, and the more models I had, the worse that miss would bother me when it happened, so it's just as well that the streak was broken early.
