Thoughts on selling knives?

Hey everybody,

This is my first post in this forum and could use some help. My father recently gave me a trophy case with 12 "exotic" bowie knives that he collected over the course of a few years. I know I have seen several Muela's, two CASE XX's, and some others that dont really have any markings on them besides a buck stamped into the end of it. As you can tell, I know next to nothing about knives.

I need to know how I can figure out what these knives are and what they might be worth. I think I can post pics to the "identification" forum to find out and then do some research from there. In order to sell on this site I have to be a gold member, which means I would need to pay, correct (not that I have any problems with that)?

Does it sound like I am going in the correct direction?

Thanks for any help,

Mike

Yes, you need to pay $25 or 30 or whatever a year for Gold membership, which is totally worth it for many reasons, among which is the ability to sell. Also, people place more trust in paid members in purchases, at least I do. As a paid member you are invested in or community and have a reputation to maintain.

From Bladeforums rules:

WHAT IS MY KNIFE / GADGET / SPATULA / TUNING FORK WORTH ?!?!?!?!

In order to curtail potential abuse of membership privileges associated with the forums, questions regarding valuation of knives and collections are limited to those with a membership level which permits selling on this site. Accordingly, registered and basic members may not start or post in threads with such requests whether with the intent to sell or for informational purposes only. This rule applies throughout the site.

In other words, without a paid Gold membership, you don't get to ask about sale values. Too many people abused this question to hint they had a knife for sale, which you need that membership for.

LOL :D Do it quickly, before you have to have a background check to sell them & they come out with a 7 knife limit & make all tactical knives illegal !!! ;) I am from NY State. :thumbdn: :thumbdn:
