Hey guys. I had seen a thread a while ago about the Straight handled Satin Jac CG Euro 4. Could someone tell me about them? I mean, has anyone handled one? Is it too heavy or thick as opposed to the others. I think i heard they are .275" thick! Any info about this SJ would be nice. Thanks for your patience.

the more I look at it, I am not sure that it is even a SJ? it looks a little shorter and stubbier. Is this true? or is it just a different version of the same SJ that most people have? thanks again.

It's a straight-handled blade. BAIII, EURO4, Tanker-A, ABA, SHSJ, SJLE and Groovemaster all shared the straight handle but all had their own advertised thicknesses.
Both the EURO4 and Tanker-A i had, iirc, were over .25.

In this old picture, you can see straight-handles on a few of the blades mentioned above. (No EURO4 or Tanker-A in this photo)

it's a 3rd gen handle. I know a lot of people call it a "straight handle" but it's not at all. There was a straight handle badger attack, and the baIII shares very little in common with it. You can see in the above picture, the "straight handle" is third from the bottom on the left.

1st = straight (shba)
2nd = ergo (bae)
3rd = baIII
4th = tac (and a few others in the same time frame, but limiting it to the ba it's 4th)

besides being shorter the euro-4 had a smaller choil that I believe was unique to that model: it wasn't perfectly round, it had a more obtuse slope on the handle side and a more severe smaller slope towards the blade, creating a french curve appearance instead of a circle. The tanker a had a clipped point, rather than drop point (clip = straight line, drop = sloping towards the tip), and a slight swedge grind.

The Euro 4s are one of the best all purpose Busses around. Small enough to carry around hiking - but fat enough to conquer most things that come up. ;):thumbup:

I had one once and miss her greatly. To me better than a SHBA etc...

But a BOSS Street, while a little smaller, would be a lot easier to get and a lot cheaper - get one while you can!!

Having also had a EURO4, the BOSS St has filled it's spot and improved on the design.

now that I'm seeing other pieces in the pic request thread... I'm not sure about the choil. Some of the stuff I'm seeing has a totally round choil, while some of it (the tanker a's) have the french curve choil...

I hadn't actually seen a round choil on any of the euro-4/tankers until today...
