HI just wondering what yalls thoughts are on this knife, I handled one today at this new tactical gear store that opened today and I had nothing but good opinions about.

Any experience or input on this knife would be appreciated

Not a big fan of SOG in general (other than their fixed blades). I'd suggest you don't buy it, because their folders develop bladeplay very quickly. Invest that money in a Kershaw or a Spyderco.

+1 to what Vanguard said. Their fixed blades seem to do pretty well, but from what I've also seen in their folders, its best you find another brand.

Yeah generally I do not like SOG at all but for some reason this blade just seems better than any of there others.

as for the blade play I would like to hear from some one who owns one to tell me if theirs does.

Thank you for the input

I own one; I bought it because I liked the shape of the blade and the low weight. I also like assisted opening knives. Sadly yes, it does have blade play. I think SOG folder quality is subpar these days.

i have one as my EDC for a couple of years now and while it has a very small amount of play in the blade it has never failed at any job i have asked it to do. it also holds an edge well and I enjoy it very much.

I'm a fan of SOG knives. Yeah, they have a cheapy feel. But if you can get past that, they make some lightweight, easy to carry knives that have a certain appeal. I've been carrying the Aegis's cousin - the Flash II - for several days, and it has performed very well. I micro-rolled the edge just a little while cutting some 1" saplings down, but 10 seconds on the sharpener and it had a nice toothy edge. The assisted deployment is very nice, and I like the deep carry clip that makes the knife disappear.

I have an Aegis on order, which may arrive today. I anticipate that it will be very similar in performance to the Flash II.

So yeah, this lineup has its ups and down like any lineup. The upside is the light weight, FFG, assisted deployment and deep clip. And price, as the Aegis and Flash II are found in the $52 range more or less. The downside is the cheapy feel. I can deal with the cheapy feel.

Not that anyone here cares :), but the Aegis receives favorable treatment from two of the more prolific youtube reviewers.

Got one and returned it. Feels like a very cheap knife and had play right out of the box. Couldn't adjust it out and had better things to put my money towards so back it went.

Having owned several SOG knives, I would not purchase another one unless I had the opportunity to hand pick it in person. They feel very cheap and I was not able to tune out the blade play that each one had.

i have an aegis i use for edc- perfer it over any of my numerous multi-brand more expensive knives. ultra fast deploy, execellant easy to sharpen blade, good utilty. blade play is minimal and one of the best edc 's i've ever had-- now the vulcan-- a diaster.

I don't own a SOG but a pal of mine loves his
Im not sure of the model but it's a folder
And he's had it for at least 7 years
I wouldn't mined getting at least one
But it don't sound like a great knife in general

There is a few people on here that love them, others have experienced the blade play and mechanical issues and no longer own them. No sense in keeping a knife you don't like or want to use. I had a Aegis around 6 years ago, I was impressed at first, but it just wasn't for me. The steel rolled while cutting cardboard and I ended up giving it to a coworker. Have a look theough their subforum:

i hear SOG folders are not too good too. but i see a lot of the mini ti i think it's called? when people do video reviews seems like the have that SOG often .

Gee, I thought I just had a case of bad luck with my 2 SOG folders. Both have up and down, back and forth and side to side blade play and one of them came with a stripped pivot screw. I didn't know so many have the same problem.

If you don't mind that it could feel almost too light, it's a nice knife. I have one that has absolutely no play, but that is clearly atypical considering the other posts. Even though it seems like I got a particularly good one, I still hate it for some reason. I like a heavy knife I guess, but that's just me.

I handled one from a guy near my local Arby's and it had a ton o bladeplay, I mean you could shake it and the blade would rattle like mad.
I wish they would stop using such a complicated mechanism on a 100% plastic handle, even on an extreme light use folder it seems to have so many points of failure.
The same thing goes for many of their folders, I'd like a traditional lock like a liner lock on the plastic handled knives.

I have a SOG Trident, it's a pretty good knife. If anything happened to it I would definately buy another. The only complaint I have is their body screws; they seem to be sort offffff... bad. If you have to switch the pocket clip or anything like that, don't mess with it too much or it'll strip. If I had the opportunity I think I would buy the Aegis

Not a fan.... I think its because it feels like hallow plastic or something. Because of this knife I probably won't buy a SOG any time soon.

The fundamentals are great... but wasn't executed well by SOG in my opinion.

Plus, if you get the digi-cam, they look great in this picture, but they don't look that good in person.
