Definitely they will come out with the Military 2, but it has absolutely no ETA - probably years away. It is possible to drill and tap the G10 scales but small holes and fine pitch threads may not be very durable. You can use very small threaded inserts. There is a thread in the Spyderco subforum on this (you'll need to search).

I actually just asked Spyderco's customer service this question 2-3 days ago. They said, "At this time we do not have plans to change the Military model but we appreciate the feedback."

Sal has posted that he has a Military 2 in mind, with the patented but not yet produced "Stop Lock." He has also posted that they do not currently plan to modify or discontinue the current Military.

You can probably get someone off the forums to tap the TI. Personally, I think the handle is too long for tip up. Once you get use to it and gain the muscle memory, tip down is just as fast and easy as tip up IMO.

If you are right handed, you can modify the Ti Mili for tip up carry. You will need a #2X56TPI tap, a tap drill, and a left hand pocket clip (it curves the opposite direction of the right hand clip).

I like the Military, and usually two of them are my daily carry. A satin finish left hand and an all black right hand. Have no problem with either tip up or tip down carry.
My next favorite is the Benchmade Ruckus, of which I also have a satin finsh l/h and an all black r/h.
