Thoughts on Tactical Triage

About 1 month ago I took the plunge and purchased my first Benchmade, Tactical Triage 917. I carry it at work daily, but I just can’t get behind this knife. It looks good but I don’t really like the ergonomics or feel in the hand.

Are there other Tactical Triage owners out there that feel the same? Perhaps have other benchmades that they like and I just happened to buy a model that doesn’t reflect their normal appeal?

Any recommendations on a hard use knife other than the Adamus that might be worth looking at?

I am not a fan of the gut hook/seatbelt cutter. It's not something I would ever use and it just adds weight. However, I like the profile of the Triage, so I bought the Stryker. Less weight and still looks similar. One of my most carried.

Just to add, for a hard use Benchmade, there is a whack to choose from. The Griptilian has been to hell and back and still performs well, not to mention at a substantially less price for the plastic handled one.

So I bought this knife specifically to put in my 4Runner in the event I am in a wreck and need to extract myself from the vehicle quickly. I have a gun magnet mounted in the bottom of my center console and the knife is mounted on it (console section is open, so I can just reach and grab it). The magnet is so strong that even in the event of a wreck or a flip it won't break loose.

It's been sitting on the magnet now for over a year I think...I may want to go open it a couple times just to check on it lol.

Although not really the same knife, my Stryker 2 has a similar handle design (part of my rotation). IMO, it feels more comfortable in the hammer grip for harder push cuts, and with the thumb on the handle using a saber grip for poking. However, if you prefer the thumb on the blade saber grip hold, it isn't as comfortable as designs without that flare on the handle.

My daily carry is a full size Griptilian, which has been a super reliable do-it-all.

Others I really like are the Turret, which is an absolute tank of a knife, and the mini Onslaught (nothing mini about it; the same size as the full size Grip), it being the "sliciest" of them all.

If the CLA wasn't axis assist, I would be all over it as well.

I have a stryker and I do find that my pinky doesn't really fall in the finger cutout at the hilt .other than that I find the ergos quite good .
