In short, it's a fantastic knife. I have small hands and was pleasantly surprised to find that it feels good in my hands. Yes it is big but no more so than a Medford Praetorian or Strider GB. Yes it is heavy and a real problem if you wear gym shorts and clip it to your pocket. However, I always carry big knives IWB and the 4-Max is easily carried that way.

I didn't buy mine as a collectible and I've already used it for some minor tasks as well as cutting up some heavy cardboard. As you would expect it slices well and the edge stands up.

Well done Andrew Demko and Cold Steel. Now it's time for an AD-10. While I like my Ultimate Hunter, an AD-10 would be spectacular.

I love the 4Max in hand. The heft and weight don't bother me a bit. I might have to buy another while I wait for an AD-10 to open up.

I see these in stock at some dealers. Does anyone know if it's safe to buy one now without risk of the lockbar issue?

I don't know. But I'd just say, take the Nestea Plunge and get one, with the mental preparation that you may need to send it in.

I have a gut feeling that these things aren't going to be produced for to much longer.

Ha, thanks. I agree they probably won't be around that long but we'll never see a "closeout" special since production is so limited.
