Thoughts On The AK Bayonet?

Hey, everyone. Just wondered what your thoughts were on this. I'm looking at the Yugoslavian model, particularly. I've heard about using it to cut wire while a current was still running through it, but it seems like it would be a problem because of the metal in the tang making contact with your hand (that & it probably wouldn't be too good for the metal that's cutting it). Any info on this? Maybe on similar ones? Would like to have the multi-functionality of one of these, but I'd like to be sure of what it can do. I figure I'll take a file to the back of the blade just above the handle so I can put my non-knife thumb on it for carving more exactly.

Also, is the sheath ambidextrous? If not, are there ambidextrous sheaths that'll work for it?

Just another thought: Does anyone know where to find one of those Yugoslavian gun oil bottles with the brush in the cap? Seems like it would be good for getting rust off of a blade. Again, if there's something else along these lines- please inform.

I have one, the steel is absolutely lousy, not quite sure what it is but it won't take an edge and is known for breaking when used for prying or chopping. And the sheath is indeed ambidextrous, you can insert the bayonet in either way. The wire cutters are the only good part.

Bayonets tend to be pretty soft, so you might want to look more towards something that size, but from somewhere outside the east bloc.

As for cutting wire with current, it might work because the damage done to the blade wouldn't be the sort of thing anyone cared about? no matter what you do, there would be damage when cutting a live wire (trust me) Best way to cut a live wire would be with an expendable, not so bright, minion.
