I saw a Benchmade 585-1 G10 Mini-Barrage for sale for $112 online and I've been thinking about picking it up. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts about it - good or bad. Is it worth the extra cash over the regular Barrage? Is the lack of an adjustable pivot a problem? Thanks!

never a fan of the mini barrage... i found it unnecessarily bulky for its size and i never liked the axis assist knives. the pivot is also adjustable, you have to remove the scale to access it.

Love the 585 Mini-Barrage for a hard working knife, sturdy and ergonomic (much better than the overly thin handles of many knives this size), performs like a larger knife. The assist is the best I've found in any assisted knife and still closes easily with one hand - combined with the axis-lock, it's among the best truly ambidextrous assisted-opening knives on the market. Plus, the safety switch makes this among the safest folding knives on the market.

Some have complained about the "cheap" feel of the scales, but I have not experienced this, and they are far above the "cheap" feel of the large grips, although they aren't as well textured for maximum retention. However, I have not handled the G10 barrage. If it has better texture, I think that that would be the selling point... but it will be heavier.

Is it worth the price for the upgrade? That's up to you. In my mind, blade-steel would be a better upgrade choice...

I carry a 585 as a backup to my ZT 0560. The 585 is in the pockrt and the 056 is clipped to the pocket. Both have lanyards.
I think the 585 is a great knife.I think you will like it and $112 doesn't seem to bad a price.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you find it for $112? I like this knife but don't like the scales. I'm considering purchasing the the 585-1 just for the scales.
