Thoughts on the Echelon?

The wife gave me one as an early xmas present. I returned it for a Knockout and couldn't be happier. Nothing against the Echelon but it just wasn't for me.

I like the ergo's and blade shape but the handle could be a bit bigger. I'd also like to see full liners and upgraded steel.

Way too light for my taste. I love Kershaws and have 20+ models, but the Echelon just doesn't do it for me. Probably my least favorite to date. That being said, if light and compact is what you're going for, it would make an excellent choice.

Overall, it's a decent EDC knife. It's thin, lightweight, and has a deep carry clip. The high hollow grind makes it an excellent slicer, and the un-dyed G10 handles (sort of a semi-translucent pale green color) looks pretty cool. The only thing about it that didn't work for me was the positioning of the thumb stud. Its position makes it a bit awkward to open. I find I have to shift my grip down lower on the handle to comfortably push up against the thumb stud to deploy the blade.

Was obsessed with the Echelon before it came out, finally got one and it didn't live up to my admittedly high expectations. The satin finish and translucent G10 are cool, but the handle's design made it feel even smaller than it was and a lot less pleasing to hold. I sold mine recently because I hadn't carried it in forever.
