Lets see if others have some nifty ideas, without actually doing any "changes" to the folder.

Any tiny details that you hope the knife shows up with that were not mentioned?

For me, so far all of my ESEE blades and HEST blades are coated blades. Seeing as though this is a D2 blade and does not appear coated, i hope the spine is squared off nice and sharp. I dont strike a MISCH rod every day, but its nice to be able to do it with the knife i carry. Considering that i may very well put a HEST folder and RAT fire kit in my BOB. I personally am not a big fan of striking the rods with the edge of my knife.

So what do you gents/ladies have squirming in your mind on the folder?

the bad news is that not only are the blades coated with a very high tech coating, the spine is curved. If you want to hit a firestarter, that's exactly what your Mr DP tool is for!

I hope this doesn't disappoint you but it is a Titanium Carbide Coated D2 tool steel blade.
I like it the way it is. No change necessary.

RYP beat me to it!!

Uhm i dont think i said RYP needed to make a change. Looking at the blade it looked almost like a sand blast or stonewashed look. so I was voicing that a square spine would be nice.

Mr DP tool sounds like a great idea. fine with me.

Just starting a discussion is all.

I understand. You were asking for individual opinions. I voiced mine. ;)

I plan on using the MR DP version that I got to it's fullest.

Does anybody have any experience with Titanium Carbide coated blades?

How does it wear?

I am also curious if the design on the blade will affect its use...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

hey eloreno, i've used one with titanium carbide coating, its very very durable other than that it dosn't affect the blade at all, still could strike fire with the edge if you had too but with the mr dp tool would be better.

No plans to mod. Looks like I want it to. Hopefully mine will do everything my other Hest does

With fewexceptions, this will be my EDC knife. I have a ZT 0350 that is going to spend a lot of time in solitary confinement (unless I sell it).

i plan on using mine a ton. i hope they carry the same great warranty as all the other esee products cause i am rough on my kit, which is why i edc a zt301 cause i know if i break it they will take care of me. but i can't wait to get the hest folder/tool and all the goodies. i hate waiting though lol

i ordered the sterile version. i don't dislike the engraving, i just didn't want it on my knife.

i've never been big on logo gear. but the surprising thin is that i'm a graphic artist and i've designed lots if that kind of stuff... i just don't want to wear someone else's work. no little alligators or swooshes on my clothes, etc.

i was very tempted to take the badges off my truck, but left that stock becaise with the badges is actuality lower profile than without.
