Does anyone here have the HK sl8?
This one:

If so, how is it holding up?

Accuracy?

Durability?

Any problems?

What do you think of that thumb hole? Is it large enough for big hands?

Is it easy to reload quickly?
-----------------

It's the civilian version of the HK G36, well, that's what they say anyway.
To be honest though IMO calling it that seems like a bit of a stretch, but...

I like the way it looks(yes i have a weird funky taste), I like HK quality, and I like the medium size caliber.

But I'd like to hear thoughts from people who have it and use it regularly.

Thanks!

Well...I almost received one for my birthday...but went with an AR for a few reasons...
THe HK SL8 is a great weapon in that it is an HK... It is ar accurate at an average AR and, well, that's about it.

It is no longer imported to the US, which sucks...but was only imported to get around the assualt weapon import ban for 89(?). The stock mags only hol 10 rounds...which sucks...parts will be more expensive, and accessories are harder to find. The cool thing is that there are many cool things to do, and people who do work on them. The polymer can be dyed black or grey, which looks pretty cool. There are people who manufacture folding stocks for them, and kits to adapt ar mags for the firearm.

Basically, you can make it look like a true sivi g-36. About the thumbhole size...I'm a big guy and it is not an issue. If you want even more info, check out www.hkpro.com .

Hope this helps, and happy St. patty's day!

Thank you and right back at you!

Those modifications would be illegal here in New Zealand, I think, but thanks for the info.
I'm especially happy to hear the thumb hole is big enough for us folks with large hands (and as you know, it's very true what they say about guys with big hands and feet, -------we really do need big gloves and shoes.)

:D

My sl-8 needs a lot of cleaning, but I guess that's the price I have to pay for accuracy. And, since I live in Germany, I can now legally do some mods on it:

Now that the AW ban in the US is over, are there Hi-Cap Mags available for the SL8?

I don't think the ban eneded Bush's import ban of the 80's.
