Hey all.

One of the SAK’s that I can’t get away from is the Pro Hunter ALOX models. It’s the one that has the single large blade with a lanyard and a pocket clip. I kinda prefer the one that has a hole in the blade like my Spyderco Endura.

I wish they made one with a flipper tab or another assisted opener. I’d have to have one then. I like big blade knives for carry and chores

I’d like to get your thoughts on these knives. Do they make good primary carry knives? Do they have any negatives? If you have any pics, by all means post them please.

Any info you care to add is appreciated.

Thanks for your time everyone.

The only negative I can think of, and it is entirely subjective, is the size. It's a lot bigger knife than it even appears in photos. But even then, it carries well in the pocket due to the deep carry pocket clip and its being so thin. But for the things I use a knife for everyday...opening packages, etc, its overkill. Trekking into the wilderness? It's an excellent choice. Opening mail at the office? Not so much...

Masive overkill to me. Like SubSpace said, too big for urban/suburban package/mail opening or twine cutting. If I were going into the woods again, thats what fixed blades are for. If I need a blade that big, my Buck or Finnish Puuko is on my hip. I have no need of a folder that big, lock blade or not.

Its a Victorinox product that I will never try.

I have one of these, the OHO version. Large, solid & very well made. But agree that it’s much too hefty for everyday carry..

I know one person who EDCs one in a horizontal belt pouch. It works for what his intended and very specialized use-case is, and its size is part of that. It rides close to the belt, but would provide good indexing and deployment. I will grant that there are some external factors that artificially limit his choices, so many guys would find something better, but its a good knife and does its job.
