Hey guys, as most of you know, I'm new to this section of the forum. I've been spending some time reading through a lot of the old post, and enjoying all of the great pictures you guy posted. I noticed in several post the the peanut is looked upon quite favorably. I have owned a Case stag peanut for about 6 months now, but never really carried it due to it's small size. I'm a pretty big guy, and it was just too small to hold and use comfortably. After reading these post I started to think to my self that if so many of you like this pattern, I must be missing something. I spent the better part of this morning whittling some wood I had laying around with the peanut, while drinking my morning coffee. After about a solid half hour of this, trying different grips and cuts, it just clicked. All of the sudden this little knife fit my hand like a glove. Not only that, but it was handling chores that I would usually call upon a larger knife like a Mora or sodbuster for. I was even able to make a full bow drill set with just this small blade. I now see why so many people carry this little knife, and I doubt it will be without one in my pocket anytime soon. For any of you who have never taken to the peanut, feeling that it is too small, I would encourage you to give it a little time. I'm pretty confident that you will find that it's plenty big.

Thanks for sharing. I agree with you. Peanut is little-big knife. There's just something in peanut. My only regret is that I don't have CV peanut. I am going to fix that problem sometimes when I can by getting Case Yellow CV peanut. Till then my Case amber bone SS peanut will do amazing job.

Well said my friend! I've adopted, and adapted to, a chestnut bone cv peanut, and truth be told, it can handle 95% (or more) of the cutting I do on any given day.

I totally agree, I need one in CV too. I'm thinking I might get the Chestnut like Coyote has. I way going to go with the swayback jack, but now I'm torn. Wait, I know, I'll get both !!!

Interesting topic. I had this Case peanut for a few years but never used it. Then got a request to engrave one. I had never tried cutting a Case peanut before, so this one was used for practice:

This one was quite a little jewel of a knife: opal scales and Devin Thomas damascus:

after handling them, I got to really like the pattern:D

I'm sort of new to this forum also, hope you don't mind the pictures. In the other forums I frequent, EVERYONE loves pictures!

And there's the huge advantage of the Case pocket knives; they are not bank busters, and it's possable to get a couple of very nice knives for under 75 bucks. And the fit and finish of Case knives has taken a step up in the past year or two, judging from what I've seen in my own purchases and those of friends. An old friend just got a sway back jack, and I was blown away by the fine f&f of the knife. Maybe not up to Tony's standards, but for a production pocket knife it was outstanding!

Get both. It give's you something to rotate.:D

I envy you guys. I never even thought twice about the peanut, my paws are just too big. Got one in a trade, and tried using it. Still too big for my paws, but now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind picking up another (gave that one away).

I can't stop smiling after reading this :D - this epitomizes the knife-knuttedness we are afflicted with around here! Please do not take that the wrong way silenthunterstudios - I'm certainly not laughing at you - I can totally relate to getting rid of knives for various reasons, only to turn around and buy the same knife again later. Been there, done that. ;)

I thought I was the only one :eek::D.

Welcome to the peanut club. It a very underestimated knife. I find a peanut or a victorinox classic in my pocket everyday.

Yup, we like pictures here too. Thanks for posting that one with the opal scales. I imagine that size opal is pretty pricey. It is a beautiful knife. Somebody is proud to own that one I'm sure and maybe just a little paranoid as well. I know I would be.

I suspect the opal peanut doesn't see much use if any:D. Those opal scales were stunning and the damascus equally nice.

Handling that opal knife led me to snag this little "red bone peanut" from Mike Alsdorf:

The Case knives are quite nice, but a "custom" is a WHOLE different level of fit and finish and Mike's knives are NICE!

Peter
