I would appreciate on thoughts on the larger size of Persian. I like the look of this knife. I like the feel of G10 and think the blade looks killer. I did see someone on the Spyderco forum complaining about the midlock. He said that the cut out in the midlock made it hard to close one handed. But he was trying to have the midlock NOT contact the tang of the blade while closing, which seemed like a weird way to close the knife.
Also I just zip tied my Endura and was wondering if I could zip tie the Persian as well.

Thanks in advance!

First of I don't own one, but from just looking I'd say:

Mid lock thing is not true in my experience.

And I don't see why you couldn't do the zip tie trick.

Honestly though I really like the design and if I had the money.....sigh

And just so ya know I don't think it's very sheeple friendly so I wouldn't wave it....."he has a switch blade scimitar sword"
Hehe

The FFG Persians are known to have a very stiff spring - this I can vouch for from personal experience. Ed Schempp designed them that way so the life of the lock would last during prolonged use. I found it to be annoying as disengaging the lock took considerable more force than any other lockback Spyderco I have owned. My other criticism is the clip. It is not low-profile and is very tight towards the scale. This makes putting it in and out of your pocket a pain. Otherwise, the blade shape is very nice and it is an incredible slicer.

I believe the zip tie trick should work on a Persian but I am not sure.

I don't have the '2', but have the red micarta Persian. My only complaint with the knife would be that the tip of the clip is really close to the bottom of the handle and it creates a hot spot for me. If the clip ended closer to the middle of the handle, it would be better for me. Otherwise an awesome knife.

I enjoyed this knife. Owned one for a small stent and ended up selling it just because it was not being used. I enjoyed the FFG and the handle was quite comfortable in the hand. The spring is rather stiff, but I could still flick it open pretty easily.

I have both the Micarta and G10 versions, and I like them quite a bit. The spring is tougher than, say, an Endura, but you should still be able to flick it open. The handle is quite comfortable and provides a very secure grip, which is nice considering the lack of jimping. The curvature of the blade has served very well in all of my cutting tasks. If you like the design of the knife and don't mind the lack of jimping, then I'd bet that you'd be a fan.

I do think it's funny how many of my coworkers thought that the symbol on the blade was pot leaves.

Considering as how I'm from Colorado, maybe that actually shouldn't be too much of a surprise, though.

Thank you for all the wonderful information! Still thinking about this knife. Could I please get a comparison picture of the Persian 2 with an Endura? I am curious about how the blades compare in size.
