Thoughts on the Poliwog

I recently picked up a NIB SS Poliwog and it feels awesome in the hand and although heavy-ish [4.1oz] I really like the ergos and the shape of the knife and just want to use it.

I have noticed the SS version is becoming harder to find, does this knife have a collectibility factor or in other words will it be worth some money later?

I see that the g10 version is everywhere and readily available and thinking of picking up this one for use and saving the SS one.

What is everyone's thoughts/opinions/likes/dislikes on this knife?

When I handled the Poliwog, like you said the ergos and shape was really good. I'd prefer something like a Kiwi/Kopa/Cricket foor a small knife though.

I love the ball lock!

Blade is too busy for my tastes. Ball lock damn near impossible for me to release. SS version does have one advantage over the G-10, you can re-task the rearmost of those funky looking vent holes as a lanyard hole. On the plus side, the action is as smooth as glass, the deep finger cuts do give you a decent grip, and it could probably withstand anything short of a direct hit from a .50 Browning.

Future collector interest is hard to predict. I don't see the SS Poliwog becoming a hot ticket item, but I've been wrong before.

Love it. With me 24/7. Ball lock (after the initial wear of 1 to 2 mm travel) is now almost showing no additional wear after repeated opening and closing every day for the past 4 months. It's my 'habit' knife. No worry about the wear issue or lockbar travel (like for liner locks or frame locks).

Built like a tank and I like the ergos very much. VG-10 is easy to sharpen but I'd like one in s30v. It's my go-to knife for opening up boxes.

Pocket clip (wire type) is very nice. and I love the look, the look that the ball is like falling out all the time :).

I'd think new ones are good collectibles. I prefer the SS over the G10 cause I like to feel the weight of the folder.

PS: Truly my SS poliwog is easier to open/close compared to my Manix 2. I use my fingernail. I can open/close one handed with my pollie but not for my Manix 2.

That makes me feel a lot more comfortable about using it :p

Really would like the black g10 to match, spending a bill is quite a bit although.
