I was pondering what type of knife I should buy next and I came accross this baby. I am constantly purchasing tactical knives that are made for hard use (and of course they are all black), with the thought that I am going to jump out of my patrol car and cut through a screen door to a crack house, take out the bad guys, chop through 50ft of 1" manila rope that is wrapped around the 20 kilos of dope that I single handedly found, and save the day. Then I wake up and go to work, and reality; Car accidents, cutting my subway sandwich into 4ths so It'll last the entire shift, cleaning the crud from under my fingerniails, and other mundain tasks. In my 8 yrs of law enforcement, this is all I really have needed a knife for. I figured I would try out this knife as it seemed to fit the "utilitarian" bill a bit more. I have used and will use my knife at more accident and crime scenes than I will ever use in some sort of pent up tactical scenario. This knife is light, thin, and all around cool to look at. Plus I am a lefty and this knife is ambidextrous. Thanx Sal for the great design.:)

I always carry my Blue Rescue(clipless, with lanyard and in horizontal belt sheath on weak side hip). Whether at work or play, you never know when the sheepsfoot tipped, SpyderEdged blade can come in handy. ;)

I can't wait for the new model Rescue w/glass breaker to come out. :D

According to the 2001 Spydie catalog, the older model Rescue has a blade thickness of 1/8" 3mm. The info on the Blue Rescue, found at the Spyderco website, has its' thickness at 1/8" 3.2mm. I assume that they are just about the same(with the Blue Rescue at a hair thicker), even though they are both categorized at 1/8".

I just got my 93mm rescue in the mail yesterday and it has all the features that I desire in a daily use knife. the 1" straight edge at the tip is awesome for close in work and the 3" serrated section I think is the perfect size for heavy sutting.

I hate 50/50 blades but this one is more 33/66 and seems he perfect compromise for serrations/straight blades.

I love mine and can;t wait for the glass breaker model to come out. this is my third rescue in my collection, a large orange handle and a small orange handle and now the blue 93mm.
