I recently came across the Victorinox Day Packer. Being the knife addict that I am, I decided I wanted (needed) one. However, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of reviews or feedback on it and I was hoping to get you guys' thoughts. Many thanks, have a good one.

Looks like a 1 tool (knife) SAK?

I'd get something else. I think SAKs have a sweet spot with the 2-3 layered ones that beats out anything else their size, but a single bladed one is not something I'd use.

Just my thoughts. Maybe look at a pioneer or farmer?

I haven't used one, but it looks like a great knife for a day-hike. My only grudge, I don't like the strongly clipped blade shape. For that reason I'd rather carry a Victorinox Solo or Pal.

I also agree with the post above somewhat. Most of the tools on the larger SAKs would be useless on a day hike, but it's sure nice to have the scissors and tweezers sometimes.

I recently picked one of these up. It's kind of an oddball and I'll admit that I haven't had a chance to use it but from handling it a bit, I do like it. It's very light and slim so it'll pocket nicely and won't be all that noticeable for a relatively longer handled SAK. The blade seems short for the long handle but long enough for day hike tasks and you can get four fingers on it so the grip feels secure for a slim knife. The clip is aesthetically appealing to me and it provides a nice point for some fine detail work.

Looks like a gardening knife. Personally, I prefer the blade to be as long as the handle allows.

Yup, it's knife only. That's what I was going for, however, since I always edc at least one multitool. Having a SAK with tools other than a knife on it AND a multitool would be a bit redundant in my opinion. The feedback is still much appreciated.

In that handle size and style I'd personally prefer the Victorinox Floral knife, which has a single sheepsfoot blade instead of that short clip. Too bad the Solo was discontinued, that was a nice 1-blade knife.
