Intro:
I guess i'm one of the lucky few who managed to get a Yojimbo 2 at this period. To be honest, the Yojimbo 2 didn't appeal very much to me because of its design purpose- The blade is short, clip carry is high either tip up or down. But due to social influence in this forum, i decided to preorder one. Although i'm not that interested in the Yojimbo 2, i was still highly anticipating the arrival of my package.
My impressions:
At first i was having trouble trying to find a comfortable position to hold the knife. The egronomics seem so weird and so off. But then i remembered that Michael Janich designed it such that there is only one way to grip the knife, which is his way of gripping.
This means the first 2 fingers at the first curvature of the handle, with the thumb on the thumb ramp. So i did that and magically the knife becomes an extention of my hand, just like the claws of wolverine.
The compression lock was sticky and unstable at first, but the lock settles after a while of playing with it. I have no trouble closing the knife at all despite the squared cut-out that some people are worried about. However what really impressed me was the tip of the Yojimbo 2. It's so sharp that i poked myself and after the first blood oozed out of my finger, the wound was gone. So i took out my military and compared its tip with the Yojimbo 2, and indeed the later is much more sharper and definitely sharper than a needle.
Finally, the Yojimbo 2 has cosmetic flaws on the blade. Yes i know i am picky, but i do expect a knife made in Golden to be perfectly finished. Near the mid section of the blade, there is a scratch mark. Besides that, a few other places appear to be roughly finished.
So, will i use this knife? Nah, It's going into my safe
To end this off, here are some pictures for you all.
The only way to grip the knife
Scatch on the blade
Imperfect finish. They are not dusts
Comparison with manix 2
And the ultra sharp tip
Thanks all!
