Thoughts On These Colt Frame Locks?

I'm considering buying one of these Colt frame locks from SMKW and I'd like to know if anybody has one. Quality is what I'm interested in; I know enough about the materials and blade steel that it's very acceptable for $16. These are what I'm talking about...

8Cr13MoV steel blade
·Goldtone thumb stud
·Stainless steel handle frame
·Blue smooth bone inserts
·Goldtone pivot pin
·Pocket clip
·3-5/8" closed

OR

8Cr13MoV steel blade
·Thumb stud
·Stainless steel handle frame
·Black G-10 inserts
·Pocket clip
·3-3/4" closed

I'm only interested in the quality, not a comparison to other frame locks. Thanks all ;)

I know that people are going to compare it to a Sebbie and shout at Colt for doing this. Honestly, at $16, try it out. It could really be a sleeper.

One that I think you'd rather have at the price point however, would be the Sanrenmu 710, which is under $10 I believe and has had good reviews.

Actually I like blade geometry. if it was any better steel I'd go for it.
Well, 8Cr13MoV isn't all hopeless. May be if Cotdt can reharden it for experimenting...

At $16 just buy it already. This could very well be Colt subcontracting to the factory that produces Sanrenmu.

Yeah, buy it and tell us about it. I was just commenting that Colt firearms tend to be in the mid or upper price range of common firearms, and they're selling all the guns they can make. Doesn't seem like sound business practice to take resources away from that effort to build a 16 dollar knife.

I'd buy that for 16 bucks. Why not?

Lately I've been buying lots of cheaper-but not crappy-knives and its really opened my eyes.

WOW, those are pretty handsome. And, I see they've stepped up the blade steel from the good ol' generic, what-the-hell-is-it-really(?) standby, "Stainless Steel".
I hope you do get them and share your findings.
I'm a sucker for good inexpensive knives.:o
Or, I should say, I appreciate knives that give excellent bang for those hard to come by bucks.:)

cgmblade,

Can I ask where you got your avatar? I collect Hubble images and that one, from what I can see of it with these eyes, looks pretty doggone cool.

Thanks, The date on the image on my computer is 9-9-2002. I snagged it online, but don't remember exactly where.

Here's the full-size image.

You are correct, Colt doesn't make it they just make a few dollars off their name, by allowing some company to slap it on and instantly gain sales.
