Great Going Butch, really nice one. I just do not know how you do it.

That's crazy!

How does it shave? I imagine that with a grind that unique it must have an interesting feel.

i ground the blade vertically on the wheel and not like a blade would normal be ground
BTW the thin part is about .025 at the spine with a slight taper to the edge

Butch,
Looks good but would sugest some checkering or notches on the finger bar and grip so it will not slip if the hand is wet and soapy. I like the square corner for for detail shaving around the a beard. Dovo doesn't do that any more.
Nice job!

That's a cool looking piece!

Are you saying that tight radius is basically a very long plunge line??? Amazing work.

I would have guessed that you ground that on a 1/2 wheel against a platen - doing it freehand against the wheel is amazing! That's a beautiful razor - thanks for sharing the photos.

yep and then i round the "plunge" to smooth every thing out

the grind makes for a light razor but fairly stiff and that works out great as full hollows kind of "ping" too much for my liking on my face

i do add jimps to some of my razors but i left them off this one cause im not sure how this grind will sell and i didnt want to add too much extra cost to the razor

no one that i know of has done a grind on a razor like this in over 100 years

I had a Perrin Street Cleaver with a grind reminiscent of that one, and even shaved with it a couple of times, and really liked it except when cutting apples and the like. As a razor I think it is great.

That handle is really beautiful, where did you get it from?

It reminds me of mokume gane. Or maybe it should be the other way around, either way I really like it. Can't give much opinion on the razor since I don't have a straight razor... yet, but that one looks nice.
